I've written a mixture (I think) of what sounds right, and what makes sense. :) The Em and G bits *sound* the same, but logic tells me they're not right. Oh well... it sounds pretty close, which is what matters. This also explains all the difficulty I had with the guitar tab, trying to pick out those Em's and G's that are probably E/G and G/E at various times. How dare they not play simple bass!
