The Puking Song

Available on: Smokin' Banana Peels EP (Enigma, 1988/1989)

Sung by: Joe Jack Talcum

Length: 3:08

Lyrics:

When I have to puke at night
I can be so indiscreet
I don't run down to the john
I just throw up on my sheets
I puke on the pillow and I puke on my floor
It smells so bad it makes me puke some more
I'm lying in puke six inches deep
So I just smile and go back to sleep

(Chorus)
Oh, how I love to sleep in vomit
You don't know the joy I get from it
Waking up to the smell of spew
Makes me shout I love you!

When I wake up it's almost noon
That rotten smell goes through my room
I take a whiff it smells okay
So I rise to greet the brand new day

(Chorus)

When I have to puke at night
I can be so indiscreet
I don't run down to the john

Then he just says the line "I just throw up on my sheets"
for the rest of the song which is about another minute

Comments:

The lyrics remind me of a few incidents thankfully in the past. Eww. Can't remember my last non-self-inflicted (aka non-alcohol-related) vomit. Thankfully. The song's a bit sickening if you think about it, but like all good Milkmen songs, the cheerful upbeat music and generally silly tone make up for it. Great vocals by Joe, too. Funny stuff, particularly the almost irritating repetition at the end.

Mike Brennan: This reminds me of the last time I threw up, Christmas vacation in 7th grade. I was in the Breakfast Nook, and since I hadn't eaten in a bit, I had trouble adjusting to eating and I felt sick, so I ran over to the bathroom. There was already a guy in there, but once he stepped out, I ran in and threw up, but unfortunately, most of it missed the toilet, so I spent some time cleaning it up...
